John Knox was correct when he said that inventions from the brain of a man In The worship of God is idolatry. This is exactly the kind of worship inaugurated by Jeroboam. This banner of truth article says the same,
Jeroboam was an innovative worship leader:
“So the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to the people, ‘You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough ...’”
In 1 Kings 12, we are introduced to a smart and popular worship leader named Jeroboam. He was more than just a king, he was an innovator and trendsetter in public worship. He changed worship to give more people a public role. He made worship more convenient while keeping it connected to the traditions of the past.
