The all-wise God of Scripture has revealed Himself and His will in the completed Protestant canon of Scripture—the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. The Scriptures are sufficient and perspicuous (clear) for matters of faith and practice, life and godliness, including the order of the church and the family. Therefore, no competing traditions of men, including philosophy, psychology, critical theory, pragmatism, entertainment, corporate business models, or modern marketing are adequate or able to trump Scripture’s teaching, nor should they be adopted as models for the ordering of the church and family (Deut. 30:11-14; 1 Cor. 11:1-12; 14:34; Gal. 1:8-9; Eph. 5:22-6:4; 1 Tim. 3:15; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 1:1-2; 2 Peter 1:3-4).
