The Holy Spirit Who Sanctifies - Jeff Pollard
Is there Christianity without the Holy Spirit?
Jeff Pollard explains in this video that there is no Christianity without the Holy Spirit. He is the one that resurrects us from spiritual death. Under the law, we all are dead men. We have broken His laws and God’s death sentence is upon until we trust in Christ.
Unbelievers are spiritually dead. They are disconnected from God’s power and cannot truly hate sin. While they might hate the results of sin, they do not hate sin simply because it is a crime against God.
It is only when God in His mercy opens their hearts and grants them life by the power of the Holy Spirit that they desire holiness. If the Holy Spirit dwells in a person, there is going to be a corresponding desire to grow in the faith, to learn more about Christ, and to mortify sin. This is the work of the Holy Spirit.
In short, the Holy Spirit makes us alive in Christ. There is no Christianity without the Holy Spirit. They are inseparable things.
Romans 15:13 (NKJV) – “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
By God’s grace Jeff Pollard was converted to Jesus Christ from a career in rock music in the early 1980s. Though religious from his youth, his true conversion at age thirty brought him to understand and then to preach God’s sovereign grace. God’s Spirit and Word awakened him to his responsibilities as husband and father as well as to God’s vision for families. Jeff is now an elder of Mt. Zion Bible Church, Pensacola, Florida. He is the editor of the Free Grace Broadcaster and author of Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America and Do You Know Jesus Christ?
